Do I need a laminate finish for food or beverage labels?

Yes, we recommend a laminate finish for food and beverage labels. It helps protect the label from moisture, condensation, spills, and everyday handling.

For food and beverage labels

Food and beverage labels often need to handle more than a dry shelf. Bottles can get cold, jars can be wiped down, and packaging may be exposed to condensation, moisture, or product residue.

A laminate finish adds a protective layer over the print. This helps keep the label looking good and prevents the design from breaking down when exposed to water or frequent handling.

Varnish can add some surface protection, but it does not create the same waterproof barrier as laminate. For packaging exposed to moisture, we usually recommend either gloss laminate or matte laminate.
