Do DTF heat transfers work on all fabrics?

DTF Heat Transfers work on most fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends and nylon. Delicate or heat-sensitive fabrics, such as silk or stretchy Spandex-heavy materials, need extra care, so test first.

Which fabrics work with DTF heat transfers?

DTF Heat Transfers bond to a wide range of fabrics with heat and pressure.

Fabrics that work well

  • Cotton, polyester and cotton/polyester blends: the most common choice, for T-shirts, hoodies and other everyday clothing.

  • Nylon, canvas, linen and eco-leather: good for promotional products like bags and caps.

Fabrics that need extra care

  • Silk and Spandex-heavy fabrics are sensitive to heat and harder to work with.

  • Vinyl or PVC-coated fabrics may need caution or a different method. Coatings and finishes can stop the adhesive from bonding.

For heat-sensitive materials, use a lower temperature and a slightly longer pressing time. You'll find the settings in how to apply DTF heat transfers.

Test first

DTF Heat Transfers work on most fabrics, but test on the actual material before you press the full design, especially on delicate or heat-sensitive fabrics.
